Crossroads Dragonfly

Original acrylic painting on a 10 × 10 canvas with black floater frame.

There is a quiet confidence in a dragonfly. It doesn’t demand attention—it simply appears, bringing a sense of calm, beauty, and movement.

Crossroads Dragonfly celebrates that quiet presence through expressive brushwork, translucent layers of blue, and an uncluttered composition that allows every element to breathe. Delicate wing patterns contrast with bold sweeping gestures and fluid drips, creating a balance between strength and grace. A subtle iridescent glaze shimmers across the wings, catching the light and revealing new details as the viewing angle changes—much like a dragonfly in nature.

Created with layered acrylics, expressive linework, and luminous finishes, this painting invites the viewer to slow down, notice the details, and find beauty in simplicity.

Whether displayed on its own or as part of a collection, Crossroads Dragonfly brings a sense of lightness, serenity, and modern elegance to any space.

Series: Quiet Flight

Also in the Quiet Flight Series: Current, Whisper, and Zen.

A Note from the Artist

Sometimes a painting begins with a subject. Other times, it begins with a feeling.

As I painted the Quiet Flight collection, I realized I wasn’t simply painting dragonflies—I was quietly painting reflections of life’s journey.

Inside my mind, the sweeping black gesture became the road we travel. It widens and narrows because no two paths are ever the same. Some seasons feel open and certain, while others ask us to slow down, adapt, and trust the next step.

The scattered dots became the bumps we encounter along the way. Some are small and quickly forgotten. Others leave a lasting mark and shape who we become. Yet, when I step back, I notice something else. Most of the canvas remains open and peaceful—a reminder that life often holds far more grace, possibility, and quiet moments than we remember.

The three blue drips flowing from each dragonfly represent the past, present, and future. They can be seen as tears, but not tears of sorrow alone. To me, they are emotions in transformation—experiences that soften us, strengthen us, and become part of our story.

Finally, the subtle iridescent glaze on the wings reveals itself only as the light changes. I love that, because perspective works the same way. What we see today may look entirely different tomorrow.

My hope is that these paintings offer more than a beautiful dragonfly. I hope they invite you to pause, reflect on your own journey, and discover your own meaning within the flight.
